We had finally scheduled our first off-road outing. Since we are in Maryland, one of the closest places to go have some fun is a privately owned off-road park called Rausch Creek Off-Road Park. It is in Pennsylvania about 25 minutes northeast of Hershey. We did in fact sign up for the Off-Road 101 course through Offroad Consulting
It was an internal struggle…do I bite the bullet and buy these things now, before our first off-roading outing, or do I see how it does with just he AT tires. Well, my wife was very worried about damaging the vehicle, which then wore on me…so I ordered the skids and sliders.
RCI initially said between 2-4 weeks for the order, and Shrockworks told me 6 weeks. Anxiously waiting, I was pleased to see my shipping notice for exactly 2 weeks from RCI. Even more amazingly, I came home to a set of sliders, unannounced, after 3 weeks!
I decided to order bare metal for a couple of reasons: They were cheaper, and they will undoubtedly get nicked up, and if I spray them personally, it will be much easier to touch up in the future. You can see in the pictures below what it looks like with Duplicolor Bed Liner on it. The installs were both very straight forward, with the sliders being a lot tougher due to the weight and getting proper leverage. Also, stick nuts are not that fun to use…you’ll be happy when you’re done! I’ll try to post up a general walk through, but I don’t have any progress pics. Sorry!
